Association of County and City Councils

Welcome to the Association of County & City Councils website.  The ACCC represents the elected members of Ireland's county and city councils. It has a proud tradition having been established in 1899 at the dawn of modern Irish democracy. At that time and for decades afterwards the organisation was known as the General Council of County Councils. The updating of Irish local government law prompted a change in 2005 to the new name 'Association of County & City Councils' -- a modern title which reflects the broad base of the organisation's membership -- thirty-four county and city councils embracing almost 900 councillors.

This website is primarily aimed at elected members but there will also be material of interest to all interested in democracy at local level.
